For your benefit, we are including each candidate&#8217;s complete interview in Spanish, together with a translation of their comments on STR.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JENNIFFER GONZALEZ &#8211; PARTIDO NUEVO PROGRESISTA (PNP)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"http:\/\/Jenniffer Gonz\u00e1lez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jenniffer Gonz\u00e1lez Interview > <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">About STR &#8211; Meanwhile, regarding short-term rentals, she did not want to venture to state a position regarding potential regulation. She stressed that \u201cthey are private properties,\u201d which could be the livelihood of some people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"is-style-dots wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JESUS MANUEL ORTIZ &#8211; PARTIDO POPULAR DEMOCRATICO (PPD)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elnuevodia.com\/noticias\/politica\/notas\/jesus-manuel-ortiz-encaminaria-la-construccion-de-40000-unidades-nuevas-ante-la-crisis-de-vivienda-asequible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Jes\u00fas Manuel Ortiz\u00a0Interview > <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">About STR &#8211; When talking about the housing crisis, one of the factors highlighted is the impact of the increase in short-term rentals on communities and the market. Faced with this reality, Ortiz contemplates a \u201creasonable\u201d regulation, as he highlighted that it is a \u201ccomplex\u201d issue because it has different fronts. For example, whether it is a commercial activity or not, the impact on communities and gentrification. \u201cI propose to regulate them, and that regulation must be responsible and must include a discussion with the different sectors involved in this situation. It cannot be a regulation that, in the end, restricts one thing versus another. A balance of interests must be made so that a person can use their property in an orderly manner and that it does not have a disproportionate impact on the community,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"is-style-dots wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JUAN DALMAU &#8211; ALIANZA CIUDADANA (PIP\/MVC)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elnuevodia.com\/noticias\/politica\/notas\/juan-dalmau-buscaria-aumentar-la-disponibilidad-de-vivienda-asequible-sin-incrementar-la-huella-urbana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Juan Dalmau\u00a0Interview > <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">About STR &#8211; Along these lines, he also favored regulating short-term rentals to avoid their impact on housing prices and promote harmony in communities. \u201cWe must regulate it. It is not about prohibiting short-term rentals because, after all, there are Puerto Ricans who use that as a mechanism for income and economic investment,\u201d he considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"is-style-dots wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">JAVIER JIMENEZ &#8211; PARTIDO DIGNIDAD (PD)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elnuevodia.com\/noticias\/politica\/notas\/javier-jimenez-otorgaria-beneficios-que-bajen-el-costo-de-construccion-y-el-precio-de-las-viviendas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Javier Jim\u00e9nez Interview > <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">About STR &#8211; When talking about the housing shortage, the proliferation of short-term rentals is often brought up as a factor that affects the market, both in availability and affordability. However, Jim\u00e9nez considers that this industry represents, rather, an \u201caccessible\u201d economic development opportunity for people to supplement their salaries and has also increased the availability of tourist accommodation. \u201cI don&#8217;t think we should restrict that industry from continuing to grow. I believe that it is an opportunity for us to continue building and making homes available for people who want to acquire their home to live in,\u201d he expressed.
